take 7 - japanese rice ball (onigiri)/ miso salmon filling

introduction
- onigiri is commonly made in every household in japan
- it often serves as quick snack or lunch box
- the filling of onigiri is totally flexible (popular are : mayo salmon, mayo tuna, miso leek, pickled plum, pickled vegetables, fish roe etc)...........can be even without filling and replaced by rice seasoning
- the way japanese sees onigiri,.........may be similar to scotch egg in uk

main ingredients
- japanese rice
- nori seaweed
- salt (optional)
- rice seasoning (optional)
- roasted black sesame seed (of course you can use white sesame seed)

miso salmon filling
- miso
- salmon

steps
1. preheat oven at 180°c

2. apply miso onto salmon fillet

3. put in 2nd top level............keep preheat 3d hot air mode for 10'

4. take cooked salmon flesh out and mesh it

5. wash rice for 3 times....................rice : water ratio = 1:1..............leave it to soak for at least 30 mins

6. put in instant pot...........rice/grain/ white rice mode.............low temperature for 12'

7.  then turn off instant pot and let it stay for at least 15 mins (20 mins better) or when the pressure release lever drops

8. scoop out all cooked rice into a container

9. add rice seasoning while the rice still hot.............mix well with rice paddle...........taste a bit if the level of savory fits your appetite

10. when rice is warm............add black sesame seed

11. place triangular mold on a piece of nori seaweed (my seaweed is specially pack inside 2 thin plastic films)...........put some mixed rice into triangular mold or you can form the shape with your hands.............add miso salmon mesh in the middle

12. add some more rice on top to cover up...............then remove triangular mold

13. fold up nori seaweed into triangular shape..............tear off plastic films

14. done


taste
-i finally get the seasoning right (coz i dun have the habit to taste the food while cooking)
-nori seaweed softens very quickly...........so once you have formed 1.........have to eat immediately so that it is still brittle and crunchy
-i like miso salmon filling better than mayo salmon
-enjoy

-i am very happy with this attempt
